Frequently Asked Questions
What is Massage Therapy and How Does It Work?
Massage therapy involves the manipulation of the body’s soft tissues (including muscles, tendons, and ligaments) to promote relaxation, alleviate pain, and improve overall sense of well-being.
Massage therapy works by applying varying levels of pressure to your muscles and tissues. This helps to release muscle tension, reduce pain, and stimulate the nervous system. It encourages relaxation by triggering the body’s natural healing processes.
What Are The Different Kinds of Techniques Used?
There are many types of massage, including:
Swedish Massage: A gentle technique that uses long strokes and kneading to promote relaxation.
Deep Tissue Massage: Focuses on deeper layers of muscle tissue to relieve chronic tension.
Sports Massage: Specifically designed for athletes to prevent injuries and promote recovery.
Neuromuscular Therapy: Targets specific muscle groups to relieve pain and dysfunction.
Trigger Point Therapy: Focuses on specific points in the body to release knots and tight areas.
Mike is also happy to incorporate additional services such as hot stones and energy work into your massage upon request.
